2021/21 Update: due to incredibly high levels of demand for studio maternity, newborn and family photography, I am not currently offering dog photography – I apologise for for any disappointment caused!
I recommend the lovely Klara at Second Star Photography instead for all dog photography enquiries.

How it works
Once we’ve agreed a date, time and location, I’ll send over an invoice for the £50 session fee (£100 at weekends). On receipt of this payment, your shoot is booked and we can start the planning and prep process.
I’ll send over my Outfit Guide, which provides a handy approach to choosing what to wear for the pictures of you with your four-legged friend. Feel free to snap a picture of the outfit(s) you have in mind and send it over. I’ll make suggestions if needed or let you know if they are perfect as is!
On the day of your shoot, we’ll spend about an hour taking a leisurely circular walk in our chosen location. We’ll capture close-ups and full-lengths, your pet on his or her own and together with you and any other friends or family members.
“What an amazing experience. Sarah very generously set up a private pet portrait session for my 14 year old dog Lola, who is very dog selective. Lola has metastatic cancer and may not be in our lives forever (though she is currently undergoing chemo and doing well at the moment), but the wonderful pictures Sarah took will be with us forever. I am so pleased with them and cannot thank Sarah enough.”
Katherine, Dog photography client from Ambrosden, Oxfordshire
Afterwards, I’ll come round to your home for the big reveal: your portraits, set to music, shown on your biggest TV screen. There will be smiles, laughter and possibly even tears. At this point, you can choose what you want to buy, with absolutely no pressure whatsoever: keep only what you love. But be warned – you’ll probably love them all!
“Wonderful experience with Sarah last weekend at the doggy photo shoot. So impressed with the pictures and considering my dog was very hyperactive, it was even more of an achievement. I’d highly recommend.”
Michelle, Dog photography client from Bicester, Oxfordshire
My experience
I have three years’ experience working at a high street photography studio, combined with nearly two decades of experience as a solo photographer (gosh, that makes me sound old!).
Aside from humans, I’ve photographed hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, horses and many different breeds of dog, including: Beagles, Chihuahuas, Cocker Spaniels, Dalmatians, Dachshunds, German Shepherds, Jack Russells, Labradors, Shih Tzus, Springer Spaniels, Staffie Crosses and Whippets.
I’ve co-authored two books on portrait photography, both published by Ammonite Press, and I write monthly columns for two photography magazines.
I work with both natural light and studio light, depending on what my clients want to achieve. I occasionally hold Studio Dog Photography Days at the Whitelands Farm Sports Ground Pavilion – get in contact to be the first to hear about the next date. Otherwise, I am available on midweek evenings for outdoor location dog photography.
I hold full professional indemnity and public liability insurance and I am a qualified Licentiate Member of the Master Photographers Association.
“I received a birthday gift voucher to attend one of Sarah’s studio dog sessions but Widget had other ideas! Despite Sarah’s best efforts, Widget was nervous of the camera flash. Sarah kindly offered to meet us in Widget’s local park to catch her at her best. Sarah was very patient and we had lots of fun trying to capture shots of Widget, who doesn’t sit still for long! Sarah presented the photos professionally and I was pleased with the range to choose from. I can’t wait for them to arrive!”
