Last night I made a room full of adults cry – and it was the best feeling ever. They were, of course, seeing the newborn portraits of Harrison for the first time.
Harrison, born 19 April 2018 weighing 6 lbs 2 oz, is the tiniest bundle of perfection. His parents, Hollie and Nick, arrived at my studio for his newborn shoot feeling slightly tired but in good spirits, and totally in love with their new arrival.
Their shoot was a gift from Hollie’s sister, Katie, to celebrate Harrison’s birth. I’m biased, of course, but think this is the best gift possible: what else can you buy new parents that they will still have in ten, twenty and even thirty years’ time?
I cranked the heat up and we started with a simple bed set-up, with Harrison holding on to a newborn-sized teddy bear:
I love his fluffy hair, sweet fingers resting on the blanket and slightly pouty bottom lip here – Harrison has the most amazing lips!
Next we switched over to a grey set-up, with this super-cute hat as a finishing touch:
I had Harrison bundled up in a grey wrap, which meant this was the ideal opportunity to capture his perfect little feet:
For a slightly brighter variant, I also captured this set-up on a white background for a more high key look:
We switched to a mint set-up next, with Harrison positioned in a rustic bucket covered with fabrics and wool curls. The full-length versions look really good, too, but I have a soft spot for Harrison’s smile in this closer one:
I know you’ll say Harrison just had a little wind here, but I like to think he was feeling happy about what a lovely family he’s been born into (oh, okay then, maybe he might also be thinking about milk…).
