Newborn photography of two-week-old Jacob & his family

Jacob is the newest member of this Oxfordshire clan. He’s received a very warm welcome to the family by his two older brothers, Joseph (5) and William (3) as well as mum and dad. These are some of my favourite images from his recent newborn and family photography session with me.

Jacob weighed in at a healthy 8 pounds and 6 ounces on arrival, and every single inch of him is perfect, as you can see here: 🙂

Sibling shoot

Of course, with two older brothers, mum and dad also wanted to update their family portraits now that Jacob has joined them.

However, newborn shoots can feel long and boring to youngsters, so wherever possible I do sibling and family shots separately. This means that mum and dad can fully relax during the newborn portion, while the older kids are at school or nursery. Then, often later the same day, I get everything ready for the sibling and family shots. This additional, shorter photography session is much more enjoyable for toddlers and stress-free for everybody!

That’s what we did here, with the boys joining us for a separate shoot just for the family and sibling portraits:

The boys are full of fun, energy and curiosity, and I’ve no doubt that Jacob will be joining them on many adventures as he grows up!

With three young boys in the house, mum and dad won’t be bored for a minute. But during the occasional tough and tiring times, I hope these images remind them of the joy, love and magical wonder that make it all worthwhile. And when Jacob looks at them in 5, 10 and even 50 years’ time, he’ll see how lucky he was to be born into such a fun, warm and nurturing family 🙂

After our shoot, mum said:

During our family shoot, Sarah had a great challenge on her hands with our rather independent and strong minded 3 year old, but managed to get some great shots of him (even if he wouldn’t wear his jumper!!! ?). Her patience with our children was incredible and only surpassed by her talent at capturing some amazing pictures of us all! We can’t thank you enough!”
