When Anne’s parents asked what she wanted for an upcoming milestone birthday, she opted for something she knew she would keep and treasure for many years to come: portraits of her with her loved ones.
Anne’s super lucky to live just around the corner from her parents, Judy and Barry. She has two grown-up children, Tyler (20) and Emma (15) and was looking to capture different combinations of the five of them.
We started off with portraits of Barry and Judy together. The pair met at a dance over 50 years ago, when Judy’s legs caught Barry’s eye!
All those years together have not dulled the couple’s affection for each other one iota.
“Can I look at Judy, now?” Barry asked me after a few shots where they both looked towards the camera.
“Of course,” I said, and as their eyes met the joy filled their faces:
My husband and I will be married for five years next month. If we are even half as warm, kind and affectionate as these guys are after 50 years of marriage, we’ll be doing very well indeed 🙂
Next we gathered everyone in for a group portrait with all the generations together:
Then Emma and Tyler for an uber-cool sibling portrait:
As you can see, Emma has a fantastic eye for fashion, a skill which is going to work well with her upcoming studies in theatrical and media makeup. Emma’s been preparing for her college course by experimenting and practicing with different hair and makeup effects, from the delicate and subtle to the crazy and gory.
In fact, Emma has made her mum jump a few times by walking down the stairs or into the kitchen wearing a wig, covering her hair with a bald cap or by sporting a dramatic special effects wound on her face! I’m sure Anne will get used to doing double takes when Emma starts her full-time course!
Tyler brings the noise to a family otherwise described as quiet. He’s the life and soul of the party, and loves high-energy thrills like go-karting.
He’s training as a plumbing apprentice at the moment, which is a great trade for someone so personable (as well as a super handy skill to have in the family!).
As well of Anne with both her children (see featured image at the top of the blog post), we – of course – had to capture the birthday girl on her own:
Doesn’t she look amazing? As well as being a fab mum to Emma and Tyler (and their gorgeous Cockerpoo, Milo), Anne is the loveliest person. During the shoot, her children told me about how supportive she is of them and their interests, and how much that’s meant to them.
Anne, it’s been an absolute pleasure to capture these for you, and I hope they bring you many, many years of enjoyment 🙂 Happy Birthday!
Afterwards, Anne said:
“Sarah took some wonderful photos of myself with my family. She made us feel relaxed and comfortable. I completely recommend her to anyone looking for professional photos with a personal touch!”
