Our newborn shoot was pencilled in the diary for mid-August, a week or two after Grace’s due date. But this little one had other ideas. On Wednesday 26 June, Grace made an early (but very quick!) arrival, weighing five pounds and three ounces.
It was only the day before that Sarah casually started putting some bits into a bag to bring with her to hospital.
Indeed, Grace’s early arrival sent shockwaves through the couple’s NCT group. Laid-back parents-to-be were suddenly motivated into painting nurseries, building cribs and packing hospital bags, realising that their baby could appear well-ahead of schedule, too.
Sarah told me that the mums-to-be in the NCT group were delighted by their partners’ new-found motivation to get on with chores ahead of baby’s arrival. The dads-to-be, however, have told Nicholas that he owes them all a drink by way of apology for putting them under additional time pressure… 🙂
But actually, mum Sarah and dad Nicholas were delighted to get to meet beautiful Grace a little earlier than planned, and the pair have been busy falling in love with her ever since.
Despite her small size, Grace is strong and healthy, and was able to leave the high dependency unit just one day after her birth. She’s an incredibly chilled-out baby, with the most amazing full head of hair and the sweetest little smile:
Nicholas is South African, so the family brought some stuffed toys in the shape of safari animals to include in their shoot. I love this one of Grace snuggled up with a lion:
Sarah is looking forward to watching her grow and develop, and hopes only that she’s healthy and happy with the choices she makes in life.
Nicholas can’t wait to teach Grace how to surf, swim and snowboard so they can go on some high-adrenaline adventures together.
With her mum’s thoughtful nature and dad’s cheeky sense of humour, I can’t wait to see who this little one becomes!
After our shoot, Sarah said:
“We are so grateful to Sarah for such a fabulous experience with our newborn photo shoot! She made us all feel so comfortable and treated our little girl with such care and attention. Her studio was a lovely, welcoming environment and we felt very at ease with her. We are so pleased with the beautiful images she created and would highly recommend her for anyone considering a photo shoot for their newborn. You won’t regret it!!”
