“Do you know what today is?” four-year-old Hayden asked his parents as he ran down the stairs for breakfast, “Photoshoot day!”
Hayden is the proud big brother of five-day-old Hunter, or as Hayden prefers to introduce him, ‘Hayden Junior!’.
“We got him from the hospital, while mummy ate some food!” Hayden told me as the family arrived for their newborn photoshoot.
Hayden had us all laughing as he described the day his brother arrived. Even before the birth, he was excited to meet the new addition to the family.
“I’ll feed and change him,” he promised, “and daddy can do the nappies with poo in!”
Hayden has been really looking forward to having someone to play Lego with and help him chase dragons and Gruffalos around the back garden, but in the meantime he’s doing an awesome job of helping to look after his brother.
Mum Sam has been expressing milk so Hayden can feed little Hunter. Although this task takes a while, Hayden is incredibly patient, and it’s such a joy for their parents to watch them start to bond together so young.
Indeed, these are super happy times for this little family. After a few years of long-distance marriage with Sam in their native South Africa while Justin took on a work opportunity in England, the family are now back together again.
Sam is still adjusting to our slightly cooler climate but loves trips to London and spending time outdoors (particularly as her beautiful garden has llamas on one side and horses on the other!).
Sam and Justin are doing a great job with the two boys, and Sam tells me she’s felt a lot less nervous this time around. They certainly seem to be settling well into family life, this time as a perfect little unit of four 🙂
After our shoot, Sam said:
“I have had a few photographers capture memories of my little family, but nothing has come close to the experience we have had with Sarah. From day one it has been thoughtful and personal. Her work is out of this world, the detail she captures is incredible! Thank you Sarah!”
