Maternity portraits with Venky, Ramya & Lucky

“There’s 22 days left until we meet our little princess,” Ramya says, smiling.

You can see how excited she is, and how longed-for this baby has been. The new arrival will be joining a very happy family consisting of dad Venky and big brother Lucky, who is 11 years’ old.

The family booked a maternity photoshoot with me to capture the excitement and anticipation of being just a month away from baby’s due date. Ramya chose the incredibly talented (and lovely) Kate Walker at Ruby Rouge to style her hair, and then we spent a fun few hours creating some magical images together.

“It’s been so long since Lucky was born that we will be learning how to raise a newborn all over again,” Ramya told me.

It will certainly be a new experience for Lucky, who hasn’t yet been around many tiny babies, as the family’s friends mainly have older children. We did ask Lucky if he’ll be helping to change the baby’s nappies, but the face he pulled makes me thinks he’ll be focusing more on feeding, soothing and cuddling his sister instead! 🙂

When she’s a little older though, I think he’ll be at the front of the queue to spend time with her. Lucky loves cycling with his dad and playing video games on his Nintendo, and I bet he’ll really enjoy showing his new sibling how to take part in these things, too.

In the meantime, Ramya’s mother has travelled over from India to help out. She’ll be staying for four months to ease the family through the transition from three to four, and she already knows her way around, as this is her sixth visit here.

So now everyone is here, ready and super excited to meet the new arrival, counting the days down until they get to meet her! 🙂
