What’s the best thing about being a big brother? For five-year-old Ethan it’s all the cuddles and kisses he gets from 10-month-old Finley. In fact, Ethan told me that he is sure that when Finley starts speaking, the first thing he’ll say is ‘I love you’ to his big brother.
Seeing the bond these two already have has been the biggest joy for mum Rosie and dad Mark.
They have been amazed how rewarding sibling life has been for Ethan already, despite his little brother not quite being old enough to get involved in Ethan’s more complicated game ideas.
Instead, Ethan knows how to interact with Finley on his level, and can make him grin and giggle like no one else can.
The children’s favourite part of the day is bath time, with bubbles flying everywhere and Ethan using the bath foam to create a pretend beard, which is met with hysterical laughter from Finley 🙂
Ethan is a dinosaur expert, telling me during their family photoshoot which dinosaurs are plant eaters (and therefore a little more friendly) and which are carnivores (and therefore a little more scary!).
Finley is very chilled out and loves nothing more than being bounced on his parent’s knees, playing peek-a-boo and singing songs. He’s recently learned how to crawl and zipped around at speed during our family photoshoot.
Although lockdown meant that the family missed out on newborn baby photos earlier in the year, there’s been an upside to all that time at home together.
Two or three times every day, they all dropped what they were doing and went out for a walk together, enjoying the beautiful weather and discovering parts of Bicester that they’d never seen, despite living here for over ten years.
They now have a whole stack of fond memories of making the most of being a family together, and enjoying each other’s company.
The family can’t wait for their first Christmas as a family of four. Ethan is very much hoping to receive a LEGO dinosaur toy, and Finley no doubt will be mesmerised by all the lights and wrapping paper.
Indeed, the family are ready to start setting the scene for the festivities after our family photoshoot, heading over to the Bunkers Hill plant nursery to enjoy some hot chocolate and a reindeer treasure hunt while choosing which tree to take home and decorate.
Then the countdown is on until the Christmas break. The time off provides another excuse to hunker down as a family and enjoy watching the brotherly love between Ethan and Finley as they spend their very first Christmas together as siblings 🙂
After our photoshoot, Mark & Rosie said:
“We were so impressed with Sarah’s personal and warm approach. Our consultation prior to the shoot allowed Sarah to get to know us as a family and find out what we wanted from the photos. As soon as we walked in Sarah engaged with our little ones immediately and even managed to get some great smiles from our teething baby! We couldn’t be happier with the photos, thank you!”
