Kay and Allan have been together since they met at an event as teens. Yet, for many of those years, they were hundreds of miles apart, at different schools, universities and workplaces.
After eight years of meeting up only at weekends, their circumstances finally allowed them to live together. This presented a new challenge, as they weren’t yet used to seeing each other at their worst after a long, tiring day.
Nevertheless, the couple have always encouraged each other to mature and develop, and knew they’d need to do the same as a couple, too.
Kay had been hoping to squeeze in a maternity photoshoot between the end of lockdown restrictions and Aria’s arrival, but in the end Aria arrived on the very day we were due to have the session. Perhaps Aria knew that she was the main star and didn’t want to miss out 🙂
Labour and birth were tough, but Kay tells me that Allan helped her through it, keeping things calm and going through the breathing exercises they’d practiced together.
Kay tells me that Allan is so kind and caring, and she’s enjoyed seeing how much he loves their new baby already. Allan loves how patient Kay is – a trait that Allan will be practicing now they have a little one!
Kay is an Assurance and Compliance Manager with a background in pharmaceuticals, while Allan is an engineer-turned manager, so there’s a LOT of brainpower in this family. Aria already seemed very curious about her environment, despite her young age, so I reckon she’s inherited all those super-charged neurons.
At the end of our newborn photoshoot, mum and dad tucked Aria back into her car seat. She loves the motion of the car, but starts to complain when the car is stationary. Kay said she gets that from her dad, who is always impatient to get journeys done and over with!
I wonder if that’s because for so many years that she and Allan were driving such long distances to meet up with each other. Every time he just couldn’t wait to see her: Kay, his childhood sweetheart, wife and now mother of their beautiful baby 🙂
After our newborn photoshoot, Kay said:
“The whole process with Sarah from introducing herself to organising the shoot has been incredible and very professional. Although my maternity shoot was delayed due to restrictions, Sarah was so lovely in organising different slots and keeping in contact constantly, reassuring for us to get a date with ease of restrictions, which was great. Baby decided to come early and the maternity shoot didn’t go ahead but the baby shoot was ?. Sarah was so lovely, so kind and more than anything she had a tender touch with our baby we felt very safe and assured when she was swaddling and moving our little human that she’s safe. The photo shoot was very relaxed and she chatted to us throughout the whole time we were there and explained every pose and what it is she was intending to capture. My husband and I were mesmerised with her vision and how she captured moments that felt natural and not too posed. Sarah’s studio was great temperature, very clean, very relaxed and I would recommend her to anyone.”
