“I can’t believe 15 days have passed already,” Laura told me, “and that Ivy has changed so much even in that short period of time: she’s gotten bigger and much more alert already.”
Laura and her wife Jade had been so looking forward to finally holding their much-longed-for baby that this was a particularly emotional Newborn Photoshoot.
After five rounds of IVF, three years of hope and disappointment, a 15-hour labour and an emergency C-section, these mums are finally able to have and hold little Ivy and know that every single thing they’ve been through to get her has been so very worth it.
Ivy is a very content little bundle of joy who loves her cuddles (her mums tell me she’s like a little hot water bottle!) almost as much as she loves her food.
Her healthy appetite means Ivy is already back up and over her birth weight (8 pounds and 8 ounces) and is wasting no time at all in building up her strength and heading towards her first developmental milestones.
When Laura and Jade told Jade’s parents that they were calling their baby Ivy, Jade’s dad became quite emotional. Jade’s grandparents had passed away while she was very young, and she hadn’t realised that her grandma’s name was also Ivy, which was the perfect coincidence and a fitting family tribute.
Ivy’s mums hope she gains both family’s values of honesty and kindness, as well as a bit of Jade’s sass, too! 🙂
Laura and Jade didn’t feel quite ready to be fully in the pictures just yet, so instead we included their hands and arms, so that we can still feel their presence in the images:
After all, although Laura and Jade are besotted with little Ivy, it’s quite clear that she’s just as happy to be fed, held and loved by them.
These images showing her mama and mummy loving and supporting her will no doubt become her favourites, and evidence of how very much she was loved right from the very start 🙂
After our photoshoot, Laura and Jade said:
“We have just received our newborn photos from Sarah and cannot express enough just how beautiful they are! Not only are we delighted with the end result but the whole experience of the shoot from start to finish was 10/10 , we were made to feel so comfortable and Sarah was amazing with our 2 week old daughter, the shoot was taken completely at our daughters pace and lead to the most beautiful photos! We cannot reccomend Sarah enough – Thank you so much! The Huffeys!”
