One of the greatest pleasures of the work I do is seeing clients return and watching their children grow each time. Of course, this can feel like watching a film that skips forward whole chapters at a time, as a little newborn suddenly transforms into a baby girl, as with London here.
I first met this family when mum Tamisha was carrying London (see the photos here), and then again when London was first born (see the photos here).
Now she’s just turned six months old and she’s already babbling away, sitting up unaided and enjoying solid foods. She loves music, playing peekaboo and taking part in conversations.
Indeed, if mum and dad are talking together but not involving her, she’ll start squeaking, as if to say, ‘Why are you sitting in my presence but not acknowledging me?!’ 🙂
London has inherited her dad’s chilled-out nature, and very rarely cries. When another baby cries near her, she’ll turn to them with a puzzled expression as if to ask, ‘What are you crying about?!’.
She’s very engaged and nosy, and Tamisha tells me London has inherited her mum’s stubborn streak, too! If she isn’t ready for something, she won’t partake – there’s no persuading her until she’s ready!
The family have just got back from a short break in Lanzarote. After the cold, wet November we’ve had here, a long, sunny weekend in an all-inclusive hotel sounds just the thing to soften the blow of summer’s departure!
The highlights of the trip were time spent on the beach together, watching as big sister Teagan built sandcastles and hid her dolls in the sand.
Teagan will be four years old in January, and the family are busy planning her party, which will have the most magical of themes: mermaids and unicorns. Teagan’s mum is currently looking at hiring a professional mermaid (with huge water tank!) as the centrepiece of the day.
Teagan is besotted with her little sister, and it’s clear the feeling is mutual. London watches Teagan all the time, and tries to move closer to her whenever possible.
When London is in her highchair and starts to get agitated, Teagan will come over and talk to her, saying ‘Hey, what’s the matter? It’s ok, I’m here!’ and sometimes sings to her, too.
And that’s another reason why it’s such an honour to see clients multiple times. As well as watching the children grow, you witness how the relationships begin and then develop over time: as a couple become parents, a newborn becomes a young baby and a toddler becomes a big sister.
There’s simply nothing like it 🙂
