Adorable Olivia joins her big sister, Evelynne, who will be two years’ old this summer, mum Jade and dad Tom. I last saw this lovely family at Evelynne’s newborn photoshoot (see the photos here).
As that photoshoot took place shortly after the first lockdown, there were a lot of new restrictions at the time that everyone was trying to get to grips with!
That means it’s been especially nice to see the family again under more normal circumstances (with hopefully a full return to normality on the way soon).
And wow, how little Evelynne has grown already!
She absolutely loves peek-a-boo, especially when it’s her turn to hide.
She covers her eyes with her hands and then flings her fingers away from her face while shouting, ‘Boo!’!
Evelynne’s other favourite game is singing ‘Row, Row, Row Your Boat’ while doing the hand and arm motions with whoever she is sat with.
At Christmas, she loved spending time with Tom’s aunt’s dog, and to express her good feelings towards him tried to hold his paws and row with him.
When the dog shuffled back, a bit confused about what was going on, Evelynne simply shuffled along with him and tried again!
What the dog didn’t realise is that this is the ultimate endorsement from Evelynne: if she wants to row with you it’s because you’re her friend!
Jade has been especially pleased to see how much confidence Evelynne has, especially as Jade was a very shy child herself, and the pandemic restrictions meant that the family couldn’t get out and meet as many people and do as many things as they’d have liked.
Happily, the lockdowns don’t seem to have affected Evelynne one iota, and she’s been waving at other children since she could first sit up as if to say, ‘there’s another little person like me!’ 🙂
Indeed, the first meeting between Evelynne and Olivia was as sweet as can be. Jade and Tom got back from the hospital late at night, so Evelynne met Olivia for the first time the next morning.
Jade was sat in bed feeing Olivia, and Evelynne came in with her eyes wide.
She’s learned to whisper when anyone is sleeping, so with her biggest whisper she said, “Bay – bee!” in a voice full of awe!
Since then she’s loved to cuddle Olivia and pat her on the head 🙂
Parenthood has changed Jade and Tom’s routines, with Tom currently doing tucking Evelynne in at night.
After that, they sit and watch TV together, and are particularly enjoying The Witcher, a fantasy show starring Henry Cavill.
Naturally, they’ve also started watching a lot more children’s TV than they used to, and particularly love Bluey.
As well as being compelling for little eyes, the show is also relatable with lots of humour aimed at the grown-ups watching, too.
For example, in one episode Bluey tells her dad that she got a fiver from the tooth fairy, and it’s clear by the dad’s reaction (“A fiver!?!”) and his startled expression that the amount is a lot more than he had in mind per tooth!
Luckily Evelynne loves the show just as much (even if a lot of the humour goes over her head for now!), and starts doing the show’s opening dance as soon as the music starts.
I think it won’t be long at all before her little sister will be bopping along with her!
“We’ve now had two newborn photography shoots with Sarah. She makes the whole process incredibly easy and relaxing, Sarah is really flexible in our case accommodating for illness. She knows exactly how to get young children engaging with the process and is really patient in taking the time needed to capture the perfect photos.”
