I last met this gorgeous family in spring 2021. Kairo had arrived in January that year, but lockdowns meant we had to wait until April to carry out his newborn photoshoot (see the images here).
Now baby Aysha has arrived, and mum Katie and dad Jamaine wanted to capture her at the same age as Kairo was when he had his session with me.
Kairo is nearly two years old and is adjusting well to becoming a big brother. Katie tells me that he wasn’t too pleased about sharing everyone’s attention at first, but over time he accepted that Aysha wasn’t going anywhere and he’d better get used to sharing!
Big sister Aarayah is absolutely overjoyed at the family’s new arrival.
Aysha was due to arrive on Aarayah’s birthday, and indeed – at 3am that very day Aysha decided to make her grand entrance.
Amazingly, mum was back home just three hours after giving birth, which meant that Aarayah was still able to celebrate her special day – she just needed to add one more (tiny) guest to the list of attendees!
As a bonus, though, both sister will always be off school to celebrate, thanks to being born during the summer holidays!
Aarayah has nearly completed her Health and Social Care course at college, and is looking forward to studying further at Oxford Brookes University afterwards.
She hopes to spend her career working with children and teenagers, and from her care and connection with both her siblings, it’s clear Aarayah has found her calling.
Katie and Jamaine aren’t just team mates as parents: they also run a building and renovation company together.
That means Katie’s maternity leave has included a lot of admin work for the business, as well as juggling a newborn and a toddler.
Despite the multiple challenges the last year has thrown at small businesses, demand for their services is still very high which is good news of course, but means lots to do for Katie and Jamaine!
With Christmas round the corner, I very much hope they get some well-deserved rest and a chance to enjoy a good slice of time together as a very happy family of five. 🙂
