Gareth had the perfect Christmas gift idea for his wife, Perrine. She was seven months pregnant at the time, and had indicated an interest in documenting the experience.
So Gareth got in contact with me and organised a Gift Certificate for a maternity and newborn photoshoot for her, a surprise she was delighted by.
In mid-January, I had the joy of meeting them both.
They’ve been together for ten years after initially bumping into each other in Singapore, where they were both studying.
French-born Perrine was intrigued by Gareth’s British accent, while he was impressed with her passion for adventure, including her solo travels through the Philippines and South Asia.
A French-speaking friend of Gareth’s introduced them, and they started to date.
After Gareth’s course finished, he had to move back to London, and they spent seven months in a long-distance relationship before they were able to move in together, and then eventually moved to a home in Bicester.
Perrine is incredibly creative. A long while ago she signed up to evening classes to learn how to sew, and now about half her wardrobe is handmade. It’s all to such a high standard that I would have sworn it was done by a professional.
Perrine even made her own wedding dress, a stunning and timeless piece that drew on elements she liked from three other dresses she tried on in Paris.
Gareth and Perrine married at a beautiful old Chateau in South France on a rescheduled date after their initial ceremony was postponed due to covid restrictions.
Restrictions were still in place on the second date but luckily all 70 of their guests were able to make it there to celebrate with the happy couple.
Gareth and Perrine told me that haven’t held a newborn in a long time – if ever – so this will be a new experience for them both. However they are both prepped and ready for those nappy changes!
The couple are waiting to see if they are having a boy or a girl, and have a shortlist of names ready. They want a name that’s easy to pronounce for both sides of the family, so it will need to work well for both English and French speakers.
I can’t wait to see what they choose – and to meet their new arrival in just over a month! 🙂
