Actor headshots with Rory

Rory is auditioning for a part in a staging of The Greatest Showman, and needed headshots to go with his application.

So his lovely mum, Liz, booked in with me, and we spent a fun hour creating a range of different images that Rory can use for his budding acting career.

He’d most love to land the role of Phillip Carlyle, played by Zac Effron in the movie.

Rory has a baritone singing voice, and this talent clearly runs in the family as Liz was a soprano herself.

Rory also has a fantastic sense of humour, combined with a really dry, deadpan delivery style.

I asked him where he got his sense of humour from, expecting him to say a friend or family member. Instead, his answer was “TikTok, of course!”

I also learned that you can make group calls via Instagram, which I didn’t know – and Rory tells me the call quality is much better than WhatsApp video calls.

Every day is a school day, as they say!

When he’s not watching theatre or auditioning for roles himself, Rory can most often be found playing video games.

Rory also has an older sister, who helped with shortlisting the many favourite images from Rory’s headshot session with me, despite being in Thailand at the moment!

Liz grew up overseas, but fell in love first with the music scene in England, then the historic buildings, then stayed as her children grew up with this country as their home.

After an initial career in publishing, Liz now works as a person-centred therapist. 

The family have two cats and two dogs.

One of the cats, Zelda, has a split personality: some days she wants all the attention, whereas other days she won’t let anyone near her!

Given the choice, Liz and Rory would love to spend the day somewhere warm. Really warm. Like Mauritius, Mexico or Jamaica, all recent holiday destinations for the family.

Given Rory’s ease in front of the camera, combined with his acting talents and that special ‘X factor’ he possesses, I’m confident it won’t be long before he’s whisking the whole family away as soon as he hits the big time!
