Steph and James met at a mutual friend’s house.
James told me he wasn’t looking or feeling his best, but they started talking and connected.
Now they’re bringing up three-year-old Scarlett-Mae and nine-month-old Mitchell together.

Scarlett wasn’t too impressed when Mitchell first arrived, telling her mum that he needed to go back to his own house.🤣
Happily, she’s started to really enjoy his company now that he’s able to interact with her a lot more as he’s grown.

Mitchell has his dad’s easy-going nature, and loves food more than anything else. He’s a real daddy’s boy, missing James when he’s at work and holding on to him when he’s home.
Scarlett is the opposite: a complete mummy’s girl and super active, always curious and doing something.

Steph tells me that she’s the same herself, as is her mum, so Scarlett’s busyness is definitely in the maternal gene line!

The family love spending time together outdoors, going to the local parks and playgrounds.

Scarlett also enjoys trips to the zoo, and tells me that the tigers are her favourite animal!

I’ve met Steph and Scarlett before, at Scarlett’s newborn photoshoot with me.

As before, this photoshoot was a gift from Steph’s aunt, Caroline, who is always encouraging the family to record their milestones and memories.

Indeed, Steph and James expressed surprise that Caroline hasn’t yet become a photographer herself.

Nevertheless, Caroline understands the value of photographs, and her generous gift means that Scarlett and Mitchell will be able to look back at these pictures and see how much their family loved them, right from the start.

And that’s what I’m capturing here: the love and connection, between these awesome four people who might never have met, if it wasn’t for that mutual friend making it possible for Steph and James to be in the same place at the same time all those years ago!
