Emilie’s colleagues wanted to get her a very special gift to celebrate her going on her maternity leave.
Everyone had been incredibly generous, and the team had amassed enough to cover a newborn photoshoot with me as well as vouchers for COOK and John Lewis (Marcus tells me he’s been eyeing up their BBQs 🤣) and a ‘My first passport’ cover as well.
All those vouchers will come in handy, especially as it’s been an expensive year: the couple had just signed a mortgage on a property needing a full renovation when they discovered Emilie was pregnant.
They’ve still got a lot of work to do on the house, but their bedroom and the baby’s room are finished, which is the main thing!

Emilie and Marcus couple struggled to pick a name for their new baby.
Although they both love traditional names, they had different ideas on specific ones, so decided to wait until he arrived to see how he looked.

On meeting him, they realised ‘Edward’ suited him well, and perfectly honoured his great-great-grandfather.
They also opted for ‘James’ as a middle name in honour of a very close family friend who sadly passed the week before Emilie found out she was pregnant. Of course, he’ll also go by the name ‘Teddy’, too!
Marcus is Bicester born and bred, and his parents still live locally, too.
Emilie is from up North, but her parents have moved away to enjoy the sunny weather in Dubai. That’s where the family will head for their first overseas trip later this year.

Travel is one of Emilie and Marcus’ priorities, with Emilie’s job giving her access to incredible reductions on flights.
They recently went to Bali and can’t wait to start planning their next few adventures.
Emillie and Marcus love pubs almost as much, managing to fit in five pub visits with Edward since his arrival!
One of their favourites is The White Horse in Kings Sutton – I’m told the food there is incredible.

They can’t wait to teach little Edward how to ride a bike, and take him to all the motorsports events that Marcus loves.
Marcus can’t wait to buy his first classic car (or two), and, thanks to their new property, they’ll have plenty of space to store them (if he can win Emilie round!).
In the meantime, there’s plenty else to look forward to, from watching Edward settle into family life, right through to their winter sun escape with Emilie’s family.
