Halley and Laura wanted a special family portrait go out with a party invitation.
But as well as that, they wanted images that captured the cuddles, silliness and fun of their family unit.
The lovely couple had space on the walls of their beautiful home, which they wanted to fill with canvas wall art that celebrated and reminded them of the precious time they time all spent together.
So they got in contact with me and made it clear that studio shots weren’t their style: they wanted their shoot to take place outdoors.
We pencilled in a date in early December, and the good ol’ British weather lived up to its reputation, with lashing rain all day long.
We rescheduled for the next day that all the children were together, in late January 2019. Cue howling winds from a storm that was whirling its way across the country.
Third time lucky indeed. We rebooked again for a couple of months later and were repaid for our patience in full. We were gifted unseasonable warm weather, the most golden of sunsets and all in a secret location just outside Bicester that we had to ourselves. Everything was perfect.
So off we went for walk interspersed with games. We had Clementine, Jemima and Vivienne (all five years’ old), Rowan (11) and, of course, mums Halley and Laura.
With three five-year-olds, one 11 year-old and two adults, the last thing in the world I would say is ‘look here and smile’. Instead we had a lot of banter, heaps of interaction and a dash of tickles to prompt the gorgeous (and genuine) expressions you see here.
Because fun-filled days like these are the ones you want to remember. The laughter and gentle teasing; the smiles of your children completely filling your gaze and your heart; the sound of giggles cascading over perfect countryside.
Family is everything. And when you come home after a day of work, there’s nothing you want to see more than the happy faces of the people you do it all for. Indeed, when your family is as joyful, playful and loving as these guys, the pictures of them on the wall will make you smile every time you see them 🙂
