First birthday cake smash with Rowan

Mum-of-two Vanessa needed to update the family’s photos for two reasons.

Firstly, they’d had a cake smash photoshoot for Delilah when she turned one, so it was only fair to do the same for their newest arrival, Rowan.

Secondly, little Rowan already looks so different from when he was a newborn that the previous pictures could almost be mistaken for another child completely – which goes to show how much Rowan has grown in just a year!

Indeed, I first met him when he was just four weeks old (see the pictures here).

He’s now settled really well into family life, and has discovered a passion for all things food, particularly chocolate!

After recently learning how to crawl, he can now transport himself at high speed, and zipped from one end of my Bicester studio to the other at every opportunity!

Big sister Delilah is four years old and has continued to be the world’s most enthusiastic sibling.

Rowan particularly loves sitting in a little wheeled toy, which Delilah pushes him around the house in at top speed. The sounds of Rowan’s chuckling can be heard all over the family’s bungalow!

For Rowan’s first birthday the family are going to Adam Henson’s Farm (https://cotswoldfarmpark.co.uk), where they’ll stay overnight in a luxury safari tent after meeting and greeting all the animals.

The family also have a trip planned later this year with their best friends, who also have a girl, three-year-old Millie.

Despite the slight age difference, Delilah and Millie are the very best of friends and love nothing more than spending time playing together.

Vanessa opted for a stunning blue and white outfit palette for the photoshoot with me.

She was particularly hoping for two things from our time together: a great birthday image to share on Rowan’s big day, and a lovely picture of the whole family to become the centrepiece of a montage wall in their living room, alongside images of both children showing each of their milestones.

I think it’s safe to say: mission accomplished!
