Newborn Photos of 16-day-old Lucas

Can you fall in love with someone you haven’t met yet? If you’re a grandparent, you’ll know the answer is ‘YES!’.

Perfect little Lucas was born into an international family, which means his fans are spread far and wide over the globe. As he’s the first grandchild on both sides of the family, his arrival has been very eagerly anticipated.

However, as his grandparents all live in China, there are a few more logistics involved when it comes to visiting their new grandson. But flights have now been booked and bags are being packed: the paternal grandparents are over for a long holiday in a few weeks, while the maternal grandparents plan a long stay early next year.

Of course, the grandparents weren’t the only ones who were more than ready to meet little Lucas. After a 50-hour labour* both mum and dad were very happy to meet their baby. For dad Joe, seeing Lucas for the first time has been the absolute highlight so far.

“Words can’t describe it,” he told me, “it was just so magical.”

For mum Grace, her favourite moment was the first skin-to-skin contact she had with Lucas, when the hospital staff laid him on her chest shortly after birth.

Tiny little Lucas is not the only cutie in the family home. Three-year-old Kiwi is an adorable Yorkshire terrier, who is at her happiest when sat nestled in Joe’s arms. Kiwi is named in honour of New Zealand, the country in which Joe and Grace first met. It’s their favourite place in the world, although – sadly for the grandparents – it’s not much closer to China than where the family are now!

Lucas’ Mandarin name is Peiqi, and his mum and dad are very much looking forward to teaching him their language and introducing him to their favourite aspects of Chinese history and tradition. When he’s old enough to handle the flight, Joe and Grace will take him with them to China, where he’ll be able to experience the culture for himself.

The only challenge is that once Lucas is in China, his grandparents won’t ever want him to leave!

After our shoot, Joe said:

“Sarah is absolute amazing! We had a fantastic experience with her. Because of the long hospital stay, it was not convenient for us to travel. Sarah visited us in very short notice. During the session, our little one kept asking for food, Sarah was very patient with our little one. Highly recommended!”
