Two of the things I struggled with most at school were science and languages. I think this little dude is going to be VERY accomplished at both.
After all, his lovely mum trained and worked as a physicist for many years, focusing on particle acceleration.
Then add to that the fact that his awesome dad is a software developer whose native tongue is Bulgarian. Dad has already started to teach his son the language, soothing him with his soft South Slavic tones.
Mum doesn’t speak any Bulgarian (yet!), but loves that it’s something special and unique that her son and partner will have in common, a secret way of communicating together.
I met this new family of three at their Bicester newborn photoshoot with me, when baby was just eight days’ old, after a slightly early arrival.
Dad is the calmest man you could ever meet, and this little baby clearly has his genes. He snoozed through his entire newborn shoot with me, opening his eyes only briefly to check what was going on before drifting straight back to the land of nod again.
Mum tells me that she’s never – not even once – seen her partner lose his cool, and that he’s been a rock to her during tough times. Dad’s certainly got a big heart though, and it’s clear to see just how in love he is with his brand new son.
The first week has gone by in a blur, with feeds, nappy changes and lots of cuddles around the clock. There’s already been so many favourite moments, and Mum has been through the whole gamut of emotions many times.
Mum was finding things tough after some initial difficulties getting started with breastfeeding, but is happy to report that her low mood was lifted after seeing Dad’s face get blasted with pee during a nappy change 🙂
Mum and Dad have also really enjoyed watching the range of expressions pass over their baby’s face every day. He’s already been spotted doing Dad’s signature eyebrow raise, and is often seen with a frown of concentration coupled with a fist touching his chin, like a philosopher deep in thought.
Perhaps he’s already started to think up new theories for as-yet-unsolved physics problems…
