Jen was working behind the counter of a high street jewellery shop when Daren came in, looking to buy a new watch.
A spark flew between them and the conversation flowed. Daren left with his watch but made excuses to return again and again to buy gifts for friends.
After spending some time together and visiting an Ideal Home Show, Daren & Jen discussed the possibility of setting up their own business together. Hot Tubs are a luxury item and opening a Hot Tub showroom in the middle of a recession did not sit well with many of their friends and family, but with a lot of hard work and determination, they created an incredibly successful business, www.hottubsathome.co.uk, which they continue to run together today.
Finding a new job is good, but finding someone you want to fall in love with is even better. That chance meeting in the jewellery shop was 16 years ago, but the couple are as close as ever, and are now proud parents to little Jack.
Jack is named after his much-loved and much missed great-grandfather, a choice that touched the hearts of everyone in the family.
These first seven days getting to know him have passed in a blur – Jen can’t believe he’s been here a week already – and they’ve loved every second spent snuggling up with him.
Jen is joyful, upbeat and optimistic, while Daren is realistic, rational and focused on the facts. Their time together has softened each other’s extremes, and they’ll bring different but complimentary strengths to their parenting.
Jen says Jack will have her wrapped around his little finger, while Daren will be the disciplinarian and also teacher. He’s looking forward to sharing the skills and knowledge that his own dad passed on to him, such as how to ride his first quad bike and how to fix and maintain a car.
Of course, there’s one other moment that’s likely to be highly symbolic in Jack’s life: the day that mum and dad take him to buy his very first watch.
What a wonderful moment to tell him about the time (pun intended!) mum and dad first met and fell in love 🙂
After our shoot, Jen said:
“‘The Baby Whisperer’ – Sarah was so good with our 7-Day-Old Baby Boy! It was a long day for him but she was so patient and we had plenty of time to feed and change him when we needed to. She handled him with the greatest care and made us feel completely at ease. The pictures were available to view nice and quickly and are absolutely beautiful! We’re so pleased that Sarah managed to capture exactly what we were looking for from our newborn shoot. Simple, classy, timeless images. I would definitely recommend ‘Sarah Plater Photography’ to my friends and family.”
