Three-year-old Mason ran ahead of his dad, pulling him along by the hand. As soon as they were in the hospital’s maternity ward, Mason sped up to the desk.
“My baby brother is here!” He told the nurses.
Mason’s dad, Simon, directed him to where Tammy was staying with little Chester. The room was full of family, but Mason didn’t notice them at all. Instead, he ran straight up to Chester and started chatting away to him, starting with a big, welcoming, ‘Hello!’.
“He came out of mum’s bellybutton and bounced into the cot!” Mason informed everyone.
It’s these moments that Tammy and Simon live for. The unfiltered conversation, the overflowing love and the constant wonder and curiosity.
Tammy and Simon met on a night out, but now it’s the nights in that they treasure most. They love family-oriented occasions and activities, and simply spending time together.
Recently, after a busy couple of weeks adjusting to life as a family of four, Tammy was relaxing in front of the TV. Chester was fast asleep to one side of her, while Mason was snuggled up on the other side. It was a magical moment. This, she thought, is what it’s all about.
Tammy has felt a lot more confident with Chester having already got to grips with parenthood since having Mason. The family have managed to head out to pantomimes and light displays to make the most of the festive period, with little Chester sleeping through most things! Straight after our newborn photoshoot together they went to watch Mason in his nativity play, where he was playing the key role of The Donkey. 🙂
Tammy tells me she’s loved every stage of Mason’s development so far.
“Every time he does something new, I decide that this is my favourite stage,” she told me, “then he does something else and I think no, this is my favourite stage. I love them all!”
Tammy says that it seems like a long time ago that Mason was a newborn baby himself, and the memories are already fuzzy. Luckily, she also captured Mason’s first few weeks with professional photography, which means she’s able to remind herself of how tiny his toes were and how chubby his cheeks looked.
Because, before you know it, they grow up and run ahead of you, pulling your hand as you try to keep up!
And as every age is so magical, you never want to forget any of it 🙂
