“What’s wrong?” Rebecca asked her husband, Mark.
They were staying overnight in hospital following a successful c-section and the long-awaited arrival of Fleur, who was born earlier that evening.
Now it was the middle of the night and Rebecca had woken up to see Mark looking into Fleur’s crib, tears running down his face.
“I just can’t believe she’s really here,” he said.
Even now, five weeks later, he arrives home from work surprised and delighted to see that Fleur is still there, and that he hasn’t imagined the happy news.
Fleur’s arrival has had a similar impact on her grandparents.
“My dad never used to visit us on his own,” Mark told me at our newborn shoot, “Now he calls up all the time to ask when he can pop round next.”
“Both sets of grandparents FaceTime us regularly now,” Rebecca added, “But it’s not our faces they want to see – ‘Put the camera on Fleur!’ they say straight away!”
I can see why – she’s an absolute delight, with the cutest little snores when she’s snoozing, and bright-eyed curiosity when she’s awake.
Rebecca loves everything about Fleur, but particularly her perfect little button nose. Both parents can’t wait until she starts interacting with them, and were delighted that she’s recently started smiling already.
Mark can’t wait to buy Fleur her first pair of running trainers. He’s a hardcore runner who regularly takes part in marathons and even ultra-marathons (sponsor him here), returning home exhausted but on an endorphin high. He is lucky enough to be able to access the famous ridgeway trail from where he lives, so training is a great excuse for fresh air and a good view, too.
Before you know it, there will be an extra pair of feet hitting the ground behind him, accompanied by a little voice saying, ‘Wait for me, daddy!’. And I’m certain that Mark will happily stop, turn and smile, because this will be another moment that he’s waited for all his life. 🙂
After our shoot, Mark said:
“We have just received our photos from our shoot with Sarah. I cannot begin to tell you how happy and delighted we are with our photos!!! But I am not surprised they are as good as they are because the whole experience with Sarah was so professional. From start to finish you makes you feel like you have known her for ages. During the shoot she makes you feel so comfortable and caters for your every need. I also love the fact she is so keen to find out about you to make your experience all that more special. I can see why she has won so many awards and I would highly recommend her.”
