Lindsey is retraining to become an occupational psychologist, and will shortly be starting a conversion masters course.
Her last profile picture has her sporting a platinum blonde pixie cut, so she decided it was definitely time for an update and booked in for some professional headshots with me. These images will be useful for her LinkedIn profile, on her website and for her course profile.
Lindsey chose an online course, even though she signed up before Covid-19 meant all learning providers were rushing to deliver without face-to-face contact. That’s become a good choice, as her learning provider has the experience and track record in online provision which will mean that the quality of delivery won’t be affected by all the changes in the world this year.
She chose organisational psychology as people spend so much of their lives at work and in employment. She’s seen what a difference it can make when organisations manage change well and invest in their employees’ mental and emotional wellbeing. As an organisational psychologist she’ll be able to help the companies that commission her to be more productive, resilient and effective as a result of her interventions.
She’s currently working in publishing on the production side of things. Once a book is written and ready to progress to the next stage, she shepherds it through the steps before it becomes a physical or digital book.
One of the perks in a previous role in the publishing sector was access to the organisation’s printed books. She regularly read the books that interested her – typically they were titles in business and the social sciences. Noticing this gave Lindsey her first clue about what her next career step might be.
When she’s not at work, she can be found practicing Reiki, indulging her love of music or spending time with her husband, Kieran.
Lindsey met Kieran 13 years ago. Out of the blue, Kieran messaged Lindsey through Facebook, thinking she was someone he’d met in person. She stated it must be a case of mistaken identity, but then asked about the bass guitar he was holding in his profile picture.
That’s because she also plays bass guitar (as well as contributing backing vocals), and they discovered a shared love of music. They became friends, enjoying the same type of witty humour, and played in a band together. They can’t wait until they can return to Oxford’s music scene once it reopens.
In the meantime, I’m sure Lindsey’s course will be keeping her busy. Having identified her new direction, she’s excited to be finally taking the first step to get her there.
“Sarah was a pleasure to work with. She was friendly, well-organised, and responsive, and turned around my pictures extremely quickly. I would recommend her to anyone looking for professional photography services.”
