Two-and-a-half years after welcoming Freya into the family, mum Fran and dad Damon have now added a fourth member: handsome little Finley.
It’s been a different experience this time round, partly due to having a young toddler already but also the confidence from being veteran parents. Whereas new parents are often anxious about doing everything ‘right’, second-timers are more relaxed and confident in their ability to navigate parenthood.
Like many of my other newborn clients, we had to wait for lockdown to finish before we were able to go ahead, which meant little Finley was a couple months’ old but the time I met him. Finley loves nothing more than being fed, cuddled and rocked to sleep in mum’s body sling while she gets on with the tasks of the day.
Fran and Damon run a party accessories company, with one of the rooms of their home given over to storing their inventory. Although events have declined in the past year due to the pandemic, they’ve found customers are keener than ever to decorate their homes, tables and Christmas trees to cheer themselves up. During a particularly busy period, such as in the run-up to Christmas, the couple can receive and process over 100 orders a day.
Two-and-a-half-year-old Freya is big for her age: mum Fran is already buying her age four clothes, which provide just enough growing room that Freya should get a few months use out of them! She’s also been really mature emotionally, being soft, kind and gentle near Finley.
That’s because, despite her young age, Freya has been very excited about finally meeting her baby brother. In the months leading up to his arrival, Freya kept asking when he would be ‘popping out’. This led to Freya’s realisation that there was no door for Finley to ‘pop’ out of, but she was happy to accept that mum would go into hospital with a bump and return home with a baby. She noticed that mum took a bottle of Lucozade in with her, and now believes that anyone going into hospital needs to do the same: “Don’t forget your Lucozade!”
When mum finally came home after two long days, Freya was ready to get involved straight away, putting on her little doctor’s outfit in case that sort of help was needed. Since then, she’s loved kissing and cuddling Finley, and was all too happy to be right next to him during the family’s newborn photoshoot with me.
Fran and Damon can’t wait to take their new family of four to Disneyland. They plan to stick to the French park for the time being, then plan a big trip to the Orlando one for when the children are big enough to really enjoy and remember their visit.
For now though, they are content to watch their two little ones bond and interact, while falling deep in love with their new arrival themselves. 🙂
After our photoshoot, Fran said:
“Great experience having our photos taken, Sarah was welcoming and professional and put us all at ease, from the consultation all the way through to the photo shoot. She was very good with our 2 year old daughter who doesn’t normally like her photo taken and made things into a game to enagage her, and managed to get some amazing photos of her and as us a family. She also managed to get some great newborn photos of our not so newborn son, due to lockdown! I highly recommend Sarah and would come back to her again in the future for more photos.”
