Handsome little Kairo was one of my first clients in the studio after lockdown number three. He had been booked in for a newborn photography session in January, but once restrictions were brought in after Christmas, we knew we’d have to reschedule. At the time, we had no idea of how long the delay would turn out to be…
Normally, newborn photoshoots take place when the baby is 5-14 days’ old. Kairo was three months’ old by the time I could reopen the studio, but all was not lost, however. We were still able to capture incredibly cute images of Kairo swaddled up in the newborn style as well as his adorable smile while he was awake. This is probably due to Kairo’s chilled-out nature (inherited from his calm and patient dad) – once he had a fully belly, Kairo was perfectly content to be wrapped up in time for his snooze:
Kairo’s mum and dad, Katie and Jamaine, run a building and renovation company together. A plumber by trade, Jamaine has built of team of capable people around him and now spends his days managing local projects both large and small. But, he says, it’s Katie who keeps all the cogs smoothly turning behind the scenes.
Big sister Aarayah always knew she wanted a career that would help others, but wasn’t sure which route to take. She decided to study Health and Social Care at college, and hopes to progress to Oxford Brookes University afterwards, so she’s not too far away from her family.
She’s clearly made the right career choice, as she saw to Kairo’s every need during his photoshoot with me, wiping milk away, soothing him him to sleep and enjoying cuddles with him.
Although there’s a big age gap between her and her new baby brother, she has already seen the advantages: these two won’t ever need to fight or compete over toys! Instead, she’ll be able to help bring him up and spend time picking out the most thoughtful Christmas presents for him.
In fact, it’s clear just how besotted the whole family are with little Kairo, particularly enjoying the noises he makes. Mum often chats away to him when they’re alone together and he’s very keen to take part in the conversations!
Katie has already seen how quickly the time goes, so she’s keen to invest in a good camera so she can record those everyday memories for their family. I can’t wait to see what she captures – and very much hope she’ll show me some of her work when the family returns for Kairo’s sitter session in a few months’ time 🙂
After our photoshoot Katie said:
“I would like to thank Sarah for the most amazing pictures and experience, we can’t wait to go back!!!”
