“I love her!” Teagan exclaimed, on meeting her baby sister for the first time, “Can we keep her?”
Mum Tamisha and dad Vince assured Teagan that her new sibling London would indeed be staying. Teagan then sat, still and silent, staring at London as she slept in her crib.
Mums and dads are always nervous how their children will react to a new arrival, and a reception like this is a huge relief as well as incredibly joyful.
I first met this lovely family during their maternity photoshoot with me, when Teagan was eagerly anticipating becoming a big sister.
She is now enjoying her new role so much that she’s very eager to help, and tries to get involved in everything: changing the baby, soothing the baby and even ‘helping’ when mum is nursing the baby! 🙂
It’s not the first time this family have experienced love at first sight. Back in 2004, Tamisha was waiting for a dental appointment at her military base in America.
When she left the clinic Vince was standing there, waiting. He had noticed her in the waiting room, he told her, and said how cute she looked. He gave her his number, and left the ball in her court.
Tamisha wasn’t planning to call him at first. She was still in college as well as the military, so had lots to focus on already. But one day she came across Vince’s number and decided to give him a call. They went for dinner together and found a connection. They both loved eating out, travelling, outdoor festivals and music.
They married in 2012 and a few years later, Teagan was born. Now, she’s joined by her sister London, and Vince has enjoyed watching them bond more than anything else.
For Tamisha, there’s another special moment that makes her heart skip a beat. Usually, London quickly falls asleep when breastfeeding. But occasionally, Tamisha will glance down and see London staring up at her with big, adoring eyes, and Tamisha falls in love all over again.
Mum and dad aren’t sure why, but Teagan told her friends and carers at nursery that her baby sister would be called ‘Journey’.
Perhaps Teagan realised just what a journey this family have been on: as a couple, then a family of three, in America, before moving to the UK and becoming a loved-up family of four. 🙂
