Toni was worried how one-year-old Arthur would react to a new arrival in the home. The couple’s midwife likened a child’s experience of getting a new sibling to be a bit like having your husband come home with a new woman and declaring that she was going to stay with the family from now on.
However, Arthur has been fairly nonplussed so far. The family filmed Arthur meeting Bowie for the first time on their phones, and Arthur was much more interested in the rocket-shaped balloon that he spotted en-route than his first interaction with his little brother!
However, Arthur has since learned Bowie’s name, and when he heard Bowie crying one morning, Toni and Marc watched with held breath as Arthur ran over to where Bowie was sleeping. Arthur leaned in, gently called Bowie’s name, and gave him several kisses. It was a moment to melt any parent’s heart, and showed that Arthur might be a little bit more interested in his new sibling than he sometimes lets on!
Bowie is such a lovely, unique name. It had been on the couple’s shortlist when Arthur was on the way, but got knocked off the top spot at the last moment. Nevertheless, the couple kept it in their back pocket for baby number two, and it fits him perfectly. The name is a nod to the artist, David Bowie, and was given to Bowie in memory of Toni’s mum, who was a big fan of the rockstar.
Toni and Marc have felt a lot more calm and confident about having a newborn for the second time around, but Toni’s protective mama instincts are as strong as ever, particularly as little Bowie feels so tiny compared to his big brother!
The couple are looking forward to the boys growing up together, and hopefully becoming the best of buddies, just as has been the case for Toni and her twin sister Porsche.
The family have recently moved home into a larger property, and were absolutely delighted when Porsche and her four little ones moved into the house five doors down. That means that Arthur and Bowie will get to see and play with their cousins on a daily basis while their mums catch up with each other’s news!
Marc is a big boxing fan, and has competed at events in front of audiences of over 4,000 at Alexandra Palace. In honour of dad’s passion for boxing, we created a special image of all the boys together in their boxing gear, including some really sweet knitted gloves Toni sourced on Etsy:
When I last saw Arthur he was a newborn baby himself, so it’s a shock to see him all-of-a-sudden running around and chatting away. He’s a big daddy’s boy who really likes animals (including the family’s pet dogs), swings and slides. However, his great passion in life is vehicles. He waves at all the big trucks that go past, and sometimes gets rewarded when a lorry driver honks the horn, or an ambulance sounds the siren for him.
“That’s it, now,” Toni said as they headed off after their Newborn Photoshoot with me, “our family is complete.”
With two sons, their relationship with each other and their friends and family nearby, I can see why Toni and Marc’s hearts are full. 🙂
