Jane’s 13-year-old daughter, Tilly, was looking forward to welcoming her cousin over to stay. The girls live two-and-a-half hours away so don’t get to see each other as often as they like, but make every minute count when they do meet up!
Jane and her sister Jackie both really liked the name Tilly, so opted to go for it for each of their daughters. When cousin Tilly is visiting, the family refer to her as Tilda to avoid any confusion.
Their photoshoot was a surprise organised for the girls by Jane and Jackie. They kept the plan under wraps until the day before, when we all had a call together to plan out the details and talk about what the girls wanted from the photos.
They were super excited when they found out about the surprise, and raced upstairs afterwards to start planning what to wear and how to do their makeup.
High up on their list of images they wanted were ones that showed them enjoying their hobbies: skateboarding, football and of course, showing off some of their fab outfits (“but nothing too girly!”).
Tilly loves Tilda’s sense of funny and especially enjoys laughing at Tilda’s antics, including when she falls over!
Tilda loves that Tilly doesn’t wake up too early: neither girl wants to leave the embrace of their duvet before 9am at the very earliest!
The two simply love spending the school holidays together. Their first day together during this meet-up involved hours spent on the local swings, leaning right back on the seats so they could view the world upside-down.
Then the day before our photoshoot was spent playing football golf (with all holes scored in eight kicks or less!), followed by tie-dying T-shirts and a feast at McDonald’s.
After our photoshoot the plans included lunch at a cafe and punting in Oxford the following day. Then, on Friday, it was the £10 challenge: putting together a brand new outfit for less than £10.
It sounds like a week packed full of new experiences – and these images will become much-loved souvenir of a fun time spent with a favourite cousin 🙂
After our photoshoot, Jane said:
“Sarah is an amazing photographer. She puts everyone at ease as soon as you step through the door to her studio. Her relaxed, professionalism guarantees a session that will leave you buzzing and waiting to see the results which won’t disappoint. My two teenagers are already begging to go back. So we’ll be seeing you again soon!”
