It was three years ago when I first met this lovely couple, Hollie and Nick. They booked in for a Newborn Photoshoot with me (see the images here) shortly after their first baby, Harrison, had arrived, thanks to a gift from Hollie’s sister.
All of a sudden that teeny tiny newborn is now walking and talking, and recently got promoted to Big Brother.
When I met him before he was only interested in food and sleep. Now he loves going to nursery (especially now he’s in the older group) and watching Spiderman and Paw Patrol. He’s also really into his Lego, a hobby that has been strongly encouraged by his Lego-mad dad!
Hollie and Nick weren’t sure what to name their second arrival, so he was known as ‘the baby’ at first. Then, over the next few weeks, they tried out different names to see if they seemed to suit their youngest son.
This caused some confusion when staff at Harrison’s nursery asked him what his new brother was called, and he would confidently tell them whichever name was on test that week… 🙂
They finally settled on Max, which not only suits him perfectly but also goes really well with Harrison.
So far, Hollie and Nick’s favourite highlights have been those everyday moments spent together as a family. But there were one or two tricky moments to start with…
Harrison’s grandma had picked Harrison up when Hollie started labour, then dropped him home the following afternoon. At first, Harrison wouldn’t go near his mum or new brother and seemed very wary and unsettled.
Then, later that very same day, Harrison asked for his big brother to join him in bed. Hollie and Nick lifted Max in next to Harrison, and the two of them cuddled while Harrison talked to him softly.
And those are exactly the kind of memories and emotions they were looking to capture during their newborn photoshoot with me: the four of them as a proud and happy family unit, warmly welcoming their newest member 🙂
