I first met this lovely family after the very dramatic arrival of their first child, Mila (see the photos here).
All of a sudden, two years have passed, and newborn Mila has transformed into an active little toddler.
Her mum, Helen, told me that Mila is a complete chatterbox, who comes out with phrases that sound like they’d be spoken by a much older child:
“Guys,” Mila said once, “shall we do this?”
And, “Are we colouring or not?”
And my favourite: “Silly old me!”
“She copies everything,” Helen told me, “so we have to be careful what we say now – she’s like a little parrot!”
Helen told me that Mila is a wild one (something she inherits from her dad!) and is full of beans and energy. Helen loves how much Mila has already become her own person, and how cheeky she is once she’s come out of her shell!
When Helen was pregnant, Mila would talk about her baby sister a lot – she even told staff at nursery that the baby would be called Nancy, although her parents have no idea where that name came from!
Instead, Helen and her husband Grant opted for the beautiful name of Emmie. The name means ‘whole’ and Grant told me it’s especially appropriate as Emmie has made their family complete.
Indeed, when Mila first met her new sister, she rushed over to her and said, “She’s my best friend! I love her!”. This initial connection has held ever since, with Mila interested in everything Emmie does.
Thanks to a planned C-section, Helen and Grant knew exactly when their second daughter would arrive, enabling them to book their Newborn Photoshoot with me for almost exactly the same age as Mila was two years ago.
Back then, the priority was capturing just baby Mila on her own, especially showing off her sweet cheeks and awesome pout.
This time, though, the focus was on the two siblings together, showing that emerging bond, and the connection between all four family members now that baby number two has entered the fold 🙂
