I thought I had a busy week… and then I met Ayo. She’s a Chartered Civil Engineer, a Councillor, a TV Presenter and holder of two ICE Honours: ICE President’s Future Leader 2018 and ICE Superhero – Eco Warrior.
She’s co-writing a book, as well as authoring her own book on how to harness your neuro-diversity (including autism and ADHD) for your own advantage. She’s just back from visiting her sister in Paris, and next week she’s filming a TV pilot in Glasgow.
All of this is nothing out-of-the-ordinary in Ayo’s high achieving family, however, where expectations are high and hard work comes as standard.
Of all the things Ayo does, she most enjoys presenting on TV shows aimed at children. This way, she can help inspire the next generation, as well as provide a role model of someone successful who has persisted in the face of so many barriers.
She’s been on several shows as a subject expert, but would like to become more of a general children’s TV presenter where her boundless energy will be part of the job description.
Ayo doesn’t have much spare time left in her schedule, but what little she has she spends with friends and family.
She also loves to sing, dance and listen to music, and scroll through Henry Cavill’s Instagram feed. It’s not just his good looks that are of interest to Ayo, however. It’s equally important that he’s a good person who does good work. Anybody who wants to impress Ayo will need to be serving their wider community in a significant way.
And Ayo walks the walk, too. For example, she’s passionate about sustainability and protecting the environment. To reduce plastic waste, she’s led a campaign for a water bottle refill station in her local area. The campaign was so successful that Thames Water decided to donate the necessary equipment, which means that the money Ayo raised can now be put towards installation costs. This refill point will not only provide one of life’s most essential elements, but also form part of Ayo’s legacy on the planet.
But watch this space before we sum up Ayo’s legacy… she might just add Prime Minister to her CV in the not-too-distant future.
