Georgina is Head of UK for the Mars Pet Care division, a new role which she started just a few weeks ago.
She needed some up-to-date headshots that better reflect how she looks now, and also that match the culture of her new employer. It’s a relaxed, youthful and funky company, and so Georgina wanted images that reflected those attributes, as well as showing off her sense of fun and her character.
Georgina has two dogs, 7-year-old Dudley and 11-month-old Herbie. Dudley is her OTL (one true love), a sensitive soul who can pick up on Georgina’s moods and know when she needs a cuddle. Dudley wasn’t too sure about Herbie’s arrival, especially when it came down to having to share his dog toys. But after two weeks, he accepted that Herbie was staying for good, and now the two of them compliment each other well, with Herbie encouraging Dudley to get involved in more energetic play, and Dudley calming Herbie down when he gets too enthusiastic.
Herbie has certainly bought the chaos into Georgina’s life, as she told me he regularly finds himself in a pickle.
That’s something she can certainly relate to, as Georgina gets in a few pickles herself: there was the swimming relay incident where she swam her length before she was meant to, disqualifying the whole team; the incident where she forgot she’d left the BBQ on and burnt down 18 fir trees; and the time when she and her younger sister got the giggles during a funeral…
People often say it’s a small world, but it was a real surprise to find out that Georgina had been to the same secondary school as I had (albeit a few years after me). This wouldn’t be so noteworthy if we’d both attended a Bicester school, but it was actually Coopers Company & Coborn School in Upminster, Essex, which is nearly 100 miles away.
She remembered many of the same teachers as I had, as well as the bright red PE knickers that the girls were made to wear for cross country running!
This odd uniform clearly wasn’t enough to deter Georgina’s love of sports, though, and she spent many happy hours in the school’s swimming pool. She followed this interest with a degree in Sports Science at Brighton University and in an alternative universe might’ve been competing at the Olympics even now.
Instead, she’s found another niche in marketing, where she’s able to use her creative and analytic skills to grow the Mars Pet Care range (which includes the Whiskas, Pedigree and Cesar brands), a job choice which I’m sure is fully endorsed by Herbie and Dudley. 🙂
