Luca was just learning how to sit unsupported in the weeks leading up to his sitter session with me.
However, a week or two is a long time when you’re five months’ old, and by the time he came to the studio he was sitting by himself for minutes at a time.
Luca was very active in the womb throughout his mum’s pregnancy and was a wriggly little newborn, too (see the images from his photoshoot here), so it was no surprise to see how impatient he is to get moving now!
Indeed, now he’s mastered the art of sitting upright, I’m convinced it won’t be long at all until he’s learning to crawl, and from then on keeping mum and dad very busy indeed!
In the meantime, the family are looking forward to their next milestone: their first trip abroad together.
They’ve booked a long stay in Italy for the end of May and can’t wait to catch up with the paternal side of the family, especially as Luca is the very first grandchild!
They’ll have friends visiting them over there most weeks and dad is especially looking forward to spending the early evenings on the beach, once the sun has started to set and the day-trippers have headed home.
Looking longer-term, Luca’s dad can’t wait to buy his son his first Lego set and then his first set of ski boots.
Luca’s dad is also a photographer (and fellow Canon fan), so he’s been practising the art of portraiture whenever he can.
His favourite images so far include one where Luca is stretching out in a Superman pose (sent round the family with the caption ‘Super Luca’ 🙂 ) and another one where he is reaching up and forward as though asking for a cuddle.
Luca’s mum, meanwhile, can’t wait to see which of the couple’s traits Luca has inherited.
Early indications are that he has mum’s features (apart from dad’s expressive eyebrows) as well as her energy!
And with a dad in IT and a mum in psychology, Luca really is going to get the best of both worlds: the technical knowledge to do anything he wants and the social interaction skills to get on with everyone he meets.
Whatever he decides to do when he grows up, one thing is for sure: he’s the cutest, funniest and yes – wriggliest! – gift his proud parents could’ve wished for. 🙂
