June 2022 update: The above image has just won a Highly Commended Award in the most recent monthly competition run by the Master Photographers Association. Judge Ray Lowe FMPA commented, “This one I really like because it’s got subtlety and it’s such a quality high key [bright-toned] image. There’s a lovely feeling – a serenity – about the picture [with] great control of lighting and posing. Just beautiful, absolutely beautiful.”
I last saw new-parents-to-be Gav and Gina at their maternity photoshoot with me a month or two ago (see the images here).
At that time, they were eagerly awaiting the arrival of their first child together, deciding to leave it as a surprise to find out whether they would be having a boy or girl.
Finally, a week after his due date, Blue arrived, weighing a very healthy 9lbs.
So far, Gav and Gina have especially enjoyed the daily (and nightly!) cuddles with handsome Blue, and are very much looking forward to witnessing the magic of life through a child’s eyes, as well as teaching him everything they’ve learned.
Gina thinks Gav will be great at being a relaxed, calming and laidback presence around his son, traits which Blue already seems to be benefiting from.
Meanwhile, Gav is looking forward to seeing Blue benefit from inheriting some of his mum’s organisational skills – a chilled-out organiser would mean he had the best of both worlds!
That’s because Gina is incredibly well-organised and a complete perfectionist, so Blue is going to be very well looked-after indeed.
He’ll also be well-fed as he grows up, thanks to dad’s skills in the kitchen.
Gav is the Head Chef of the household, and is particularly proud of his Chicken Katsu Curry.
In the meantime, though, his parents are looking forward to spending time as a new family of three.
Gav has booked a whole month off for paternity leave, giving them plenty of time to settle into family life ahead of his return to work.
In addition, in the blog I wrote for Gav and Gina’s maternity photoshoot, I mentioned how I first met Gav through the work he did co-founding a creative agency called Clearhead.
That company will be celebrating 15 successful years in business later this year, a huge milestone.
However, with both Gav and his co-founder Alex both becoming parents for the first time this year, even an event as big as a 15 year anniversary will not doubt be eclipsed by their babies’ birth – and the arrival of the next generation of creative talent to follow in their father’s footsteps. 🙂
