I first met Lisa at a Bicester Rabble, a gamified exercise group that meets every Monday evening to play games like Frisbee, Capture the Flag and British Bulldog.
After the session, players head to a nearby cafe/bar to have drinks and get to know each other a little better.
It was here that I found out how much Lisa does, stands for and is involved with. In her personal life she is a vegan, an ultra runner and a derby skater who loves folk music.
And professionally she is a lived experience/violence and abuse consultant, an activist and an intersectional feminist as well as co-host of the Thank Folk for Feminism podcast (have a listen here) and co-founder of More Than the Music podcast (have a listen here).
Lisa has worked in the charity sector for more than a decade, including time spent as CEO of Oxford Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Centre and a Lived Experience Consultant at Kings College London, where she educates researchers on the importance of designing studies of relevance to survivors.
She’s completed an MA in Women & Child Abuse at the London Metropolitan University (passing with distinction), focusing her research on lived experience, survivor status and dual identities.
Lisa is also a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (thanks to her BSc in Psychology with English), holds an MA in Creative Writing, is a member of the British Sociological Society and is midway through applying for her PhD – imagine trying to fit all this on a business card!
She can also be regularly spotted cheering on fellow runners at the local parkrun, and is passionate about the ability of sport to transform lives.
It’s that passion that brought her to give Bicester Rabble a try, despite her super-packed schedule!
If you’re interested in booking Lisa for consultancy work, research or public speaking engagements in any of her areas of expertise, you can find out more about her and get in contact through her website, iamlisaward.com.
In the meantime, look out for Lisa at the local parkrun, talking on a podcast or giving a speech near you soon!
“Sarah knows how to make even those of us who hate cameras feel at ease, and made the whole experience as enjoyable as possible. Having used selfies for business purposes for far too long, one session with Sarah has given me a range of pictures to use in a variety of ways. Having taken the time to check what I was going to use them for, she tailored the shoot to meet my needs focusing on the format most relevant for my work. The whole process was seamless from start to finish, and the guidance on what to wear was incredibly helpful. Thank you Sarah.”
