Emily and Ashley first started talking through social media, then met up when their mutual friends went to a nightclub on Boxing Day eight years ago.
Nothing happened then, but the following year they met again in a nightclub and stayed in contact.
That chance meeting has led to them building a life together, and at the start of this year they welcomed baby Harley into the world.
Harley is super laid-back and cheerful, just like his mum and dad. He’s already sleeping through the night regularly, and has loved exploring the world of solid foods recently.
Ashley’s favourite moments so far include when he walks into the room when Harley is in his baby walker.
As soon as Harley spots his dad, he’ll shriek with excitement and then come barrelling over at high speed!
Even when he’s not in his walker, Harley doesn’t stay in one place for long.
He’s already a competent crawler and it’s clear that it won’t be too much longer before he’s walking, as he’s always levering himself to his feet using anything nearby.
Emily is looking forward to taking Harley to soft play as he gets older, especially once he’s graduated from the younger areas and can get on with exploring the full range of blocks, slides and obstacles on offer.
But if you wound back the clocks eight years, Ashley and Emily would never have guessed that first meeting would lead to love and now the adventure of starting a family of their own.
There’s another huge adventure in the pipeline, too: the three of them are jetting off to Australia in the new year to spend some time with Ashley’s brother, who lives just outside of Sydney.
It will be their first time down under, Harley’s first plane trip and the first overseas holiday they’ve had in three years, so they cannot wait.
It’s the perfect plan to escape the January blues, and means that Harley will already have made it to the other side of the world – all before his first birthday! 🙂
