I first met Beatriz and Tom at their maternity photoshoot with me (see the images here) back in 2020, when they were awaiting the arrival of baby Liam.
Now Liam is two years old and has just become a big brother to baby Lily.
This time, however, Beatriz’s pregnancy and maternity leave will be completely different than before, almost in every single way.
For example, Liam arrived during the height of the pandemic.
That meant that Beatriz’s maternity leave was a very different experience than she’d expected: no baby shower, no visits with family in Brazil and no coffees and cakes with other new mums.
Of the whole year of her maternity leave, Beatriz was only able to truly enjoy about three months of it, as things started returning to normal and she could meet in person with the local mums she’d met online.
And even though Liam was born well past his due date, Beatriz had a feeling that Lily would arrive early.
Indeed, although she was due on 19 January, Lily made her grand entry on the 17th of that month instead.
Most importantly though, this time around there will be much more time spent together as a complete family.
Tom was away for weeks at a time after Liam was born due to his work commitments.
Now he’s going to be home every day, which means he’ll witness many more of Lily’s early moments, and be able to support Beatriz much more.
Due to travel restrictions, Beatriz’s family didn’t meet Liam until he was 10 months old. This time, Beatriz is fresh back from a five-week stay in Brazil, where all her friends and family got to touch her bump and catch up with her in-person.
And after two years of Beatriz being outnumbered by the boys, now the household will be more balanced.
Beatriz is from a family of girls, whereas Tom grew up mainly surrounded by boys.
Beatriz can’t wait to see Tom and Liam welcoming another girl into the house, and seeing a different side to them both: as a father of a daughter and as a big brother.
Indeed, shortly after Lily’s arrive, Beatriz sent me a picture of Liam holding her.
Judging by Liam’s big smile and complete absorption in his little sister’s face, the family’s new arrival is settling in very well indeed! 🙂
