There’s such a special relationship between Freddie and Zach and their grandparents, Jill and Tony.
Jill and Tony moved from Herefordshire to be closer to their grandsons. Tony in particular wouldn’t mind being even closer – although his suggestion of building a granny annexe on Harriet and Tom’s home has been firmly turned down!
Nevertheless they see Freddie and Zach almost every day, and most enjoy taking them to the park to feed the ducks and use the playground.
Freddie and Zach aren’t at all put off by a bit of rain, so the family now take a towel with them on wet days to dry the slide off so the boys can zip down it!
Indeed, the grandparents whisked Freddie and Zach away with them after their photoshoot with me, while Tom headed back to work.
Harriet, meanwhile, is on maternity leave and headed off to see a friend who has just had a newborn baby, with instructions from Tom not to get broody!
Tom is a researcher in astronomy so his boys will grow up knowing what to spot in the night sky.
Harriet works with assistance dogs, where she gets to train up puppies to make a life-changing difference to people with hearing loss.
As Granddad Tony says, it’s not about trying to earn as much as you possibly can, but finding a job that gives you meaning and fulfilment.
After feeling stuck in a job he found dull, Tony’s friend suggested he try out for the fire service.
Out of a group of 15, Tony was the only one who managed to pass both the physical tests and get a job offer at the end of it.
The three decades he spent fighting fires and saving lives were everything he wanted from a career.
As a bonus, having a job that requires a good level of fitness has put him in good stead for grandparent duties, and he’s easily able to hold both boys at once.
Tony’s absolute favourite moments are when he has quiet time, reading a book with the boys. Freddie often cuddles up to Tony’s side, and sometimes even falls asleep. 🥰
Freddie is obsessed with all the most interesting-looking types of vehicles, particularly trains, tractors and diggers. Ask him a question and ‘Digger!’ is often the answer!
Zach is super chilled out and loves interacting with others. Indeed, he was in my arms and quite content within a few seconds of walking through the door.
Both boys are absolutely charming, and it’s no wonder at all that they’ve brought such delight not only to their parents and grandparents’ lives, but to everyone who meets them. 🙂
