It was lovely to welcome 12-day-old Freddie and his family into the studio for his newborn photoshoot recently.
One thing that quickly became clear? Freddie has the most wonderfully expressive little frown! It was important to capture his signature look of consternation alongside all those sleepy newborn moments.

Big sister Gwen has embraced her new role beautifully. She loves helping to look after Freddie and even sings him to sleep.
She’s bright, endlessly curious and asks lots of questions, with Emma and Gareth encouraging her to discover the answers together through books. They think she might grow up to be a marine biologist one day, combining her love of animals, science and water.

Gwen also keeps everyone entertained with her wonderfully grown-up observations.
Whether she’s asking, “Dad, this towel is on the floor – does it live there?” or announcing, “I’m going to count to three,” in her best parental voice, she’s clearly a character!

Gareth especially loves this stage, making up silly imaginary foods whenever Gwen can’t decide what to eat, which inevitably ends in fits of laughter before she finally chooses something from the real menu.

The family love visiting zoos together, with giraffes being Gwen’s absolute favourite.
They’re already dreaming of trips to Edinburgh Zoo and, one day, an Australian zoo, where Emma has family.

Even the family cat, Delilah, has been adjusting to life with a new baby, although she’s decided the safest place to be whenever Freddie cries is somewhere outdoors!

One of my favourite images from this session is Freddie cradled in the hands of his whole family against a black background.

I photographed a matching portrait when Gwen was a baby, so the two images now sit perfectly side by side as a beautiful reminder of how their family has grown. 🥰

It’s always such a lovely feeling when a family comes back to the studio…
I previously met this lovely family back in 2022, when Abi and Ryan welcomed little…
